Massey 220 Baler PTO Shaft Question

I recently purchased a MF 220 baler. The good news for me is that it works. We were able to connect the PTO shafter and get it turning. Ran a couple bales through it. The bad is that the PTO shaft on it is seized up and I cant get it to extend. It looks more like a driveline shaft than a PTO. I was wondering if I can put a more modern PTO shaft on this. The end that connects to the baler has one of those cross bearings on it. So it has the yoke end. Curious what my options are or where I could purchase a shaft that will work on it. Thanks in advance.

The 220 is a "Modern" baler by square baler standards. It was the economy model of the 224. It should have a shaft similar to any other 1980s machine.

leverage and heat or penetrating oil are your friends.

If you can get to the tube side and the back of it looking you will be able to see the hole in behind the universal. Pour some diesel fuel in there a half cup or a bit less will do. then let set for a while and see if it has freed up. also look for twisting of the shaft if it has a twist just put a new shaft in the tube side and go on. Or a new shaft. Some balers have a specific end for the flywheel on them so you will need to match that.

Patience. breakaway or ATF down the sides of the pipe. let sit and repeat over next few days. then heat with a propane torch. let cool. chain one end to a stout tree and other end to tractor. pull till chain is tight. beat with a big hammer. pull some more. Repeat until satisfied.
