Would anyone be able to tell me the float level adjustment procedure and float height for a Briggs carburetor 391074?
It's on my Father-in-Law's 1972 Simplicity Landlord Garden Tractor.

You can probably find a service manual somewhere online.

Off the top of my head, the float should be horizontal when the top of the carburetor is inverted-upside down- with the needle and pin
installed. I am thinking the manual says check with either a 3/16 or a 1/4 drill bit.

If it is overflowing, either the needle is not sealing or else the main jet tube (runs between the two carb. halves) is not sealing to the
carburetor top. (I don't know what you do if the main jet isn't sealing. There was a bulliten on this but I couldn't order the seal the
bulliten recommended.)

This all started with gas flowing out of the carb. The needle seemed to have been 2 pieces bonded together with rubber that deteriorated.

I set the float that way with the new needle valve and reassembled everything. It's running pretty good now too.
Thanks!
