Husqvarna Model #YTH18542 riding mower won't start issue

I am working on a Husqvarna Model #YTH18542 riding mower with a Brings & Stratton 18.5 hp engine (Engine Model #33R777 003 G1), (code# 1805529ZD) not starting. I have found their is power to the solenoid on the carburetor but I do not hear a clicking sound. It was running fine but kept shutting off while mowing and now will start at all. There is a strong fuel flow to the carburetor. Safety start switches have checked out and working. Good solid spark at the spark plug. Price range for a new solenoid anywhere between $65.00 to 94.00. I have had some experience with electronic solenoids and I always hear a clicking sound when working and no clicking when not working. I believe that is problem. Do any of you have experience with these and could share your thoughts/opinions? Thanks for your time

I agree you should be able to hear and even feel the solenoid snap open when power is applied.

It MAY be physically stuck/gummed up or it may be electrically ''open'', check across the coil with an Ohmmeter to check for that.

Unscrew the solenoid and clean the plunger with brake cleaner or similar until it moves it's free travel easily. Then plug it in and see if it pulls in when you try to crank it. If it does put it back in and try it.

You can get complete carbs on Amazon for $30. Don't make sense for solenoids to cost twice as much or more.

Of course you can cut the plunger off. It just prevents backfiring if the key is turned off while full throttle.
To prevent backfiring just idle it down before shutting it off
