I posted last fall about a John Deer 212 with a side shaft Kohler 12 Hp engine with points. I adjusted the points and
filed them and replaced the spark plug and condenser as well as the 12v coil. It started running fine and seemed ok, well
earlier this spring the mower started running kind of like it was running out of gas and finally died, might have
restarted and then died again while I had just started mowing. Literally just started. Now it won't start back at all.
Even if I spray carb cleaner thru the carb opening! Spark to spark plug has as reddish orange glow with inline tester. I
don't think that it's hot enough! A wire broke off of the secondaries on the coil, but I reattached to where I thought
that it went. My question is this - Is there a certain type of coil that these engines are supposed to have? Such as with
a resister or without or a internal resister or external? Etc.? The charging system doesn't seem to work, but I charged
the battery up good with a charger and it worked fine until it died back in the spring. Any ideas? Thanks for any and all
help!
