Briggs & Stratton push mower no spark

I have a Briggs series 450E mower that is not firing, disconnected the kill wire, checked the flywheel key, buffed the magnets and the contacts points on the coil, took my test light checked the spark plug wire to the laminated body of coil mot shorted out, reset the air gap, is this a good or bad coil? Thanks

There are you tube videos on how to test a coil with an ohmmeter.

If no spark with the gap set and the kill wire disconnected, its pretty much bad. The ohmmeter test only shows continuity or not. It cannot
test if the electronic trigger is actually working.

How old is that Engine to still have Contact Points??I have 6 old mowers in my junk with small B&S engines that would probably run if tuned up again. I have a 1975 Ariens Lawn tractor with a 8 hp Briggs &
Stratton engine that had contact points and used oil so replaced it with a slightly newer used engine with Magnatron ignition. The lawn Tractor it came off from was a very old Allis-Chalmers Homesteader but
someone ground the engine number off so I cant tell how old the 8 hp vertical Briggs & Stratton engine is??? Engine was wrong for the Homesteader but I always wondered if they ground number off because it was
stolen at one time in its early life??
