John Deere 316 speed automatically increases

Just picked up a John Deere 316 M00316X285433 with the B43 Onan engine. With the shifter in one position and without touching the the throttle the speed automatically increases from slow to fast. Need some help figuring on how to solve this problem. Also can anyone share a link on where to look up the information for my tractor by serial number? Thanks for any help. Jack

Sounds like the motion control dampner is going bad if you mean the travel speed increases. Also, there is a site called Weekend Freedom Machines, they specialize in the older Deere lawn and garden equipment. Lots of good info and knowledge there as well.

You need to snug up the nut, Key #13 to put more pressure on the friction pads (Key # 14) to make it harder for the hydrostatic control lever to move on it's own.
