This 4-wheel tractor is about 25 years old and has a Kholer Magnum 16HP twin. I bought it new and it is a tough one, has served me well. Problem is this: the directional pedal, positioned on the right, pushed forward makes the unit go forward. You can also lock it down in this position. If you heel the pedal back, the machine reverses. The neutral position is in the middle - all this makes sense and has worked well.
The machine will only turn over/start if the pedal is in neutral position. Lately I've had to fiddle with the pedal to get the circuit complete to engage the starter and it finally quit working altogether. There is a rocker-type piece that is activated by the pedal linkage which in turn activates a switch that only closes when the pedal is in neutral. I thought I found my problem, and to be sure, I by-passed the switch - but still no engagement. Battery is strong, no other apparent problems. I'm challenged when it comes to these electrics; what might I be missing?
Thanks
