Back in 2003, Paul in OZ posted the following:
If its just the filter you want out, you need only disconnect all fuel lines & remove the fuel tap & primer assembly. From memory this requires moving something slightly so the fuel tap will rotate. Or was it simply turning the fuel tap all the way in? Not sure now. I'll have a look tomorrow.
I have been unable to find anything further about this intriguing possibility. Any takers?
