FORD 555 backhoe exhaust pipe extension

the exhaust pipe on my backhow has been cleverly engineered to come out of the pipe and go straight into my lungs no matter which direction i go. it is 1 7/8"s in diameter, has anyone extended a similiar backhoe's exhaust pipe so it is in a more healthy position? i could go straight up so it is even with the cab, but i also thought of angling it up and back and welding it to the front top of the cab for stability but only letting it go past the top of the cab by like an inch. any input is appreciated

It shouldn't be doing that. Check under the hood for a leak that is being blown back by the radiator fan.

When I got my Case, someone had cut the
exhaust. Had the same problem. No cab, but
it was at chin level. Had a muffler shop
make me a pipe about 2 ft long with about
a 70 bend on the end. Exhaust is now over
my head. No more breathing the diesel
fumes.

do you have a pic? did it go 2ft and then it turned 70 degrees towards the rear of backhoe? how long was the 70 deg part?

Here's what is on my 550TLB.

Construction equipment traditionally has an extension like Tom's. You usually see them pointing to the side.
