i HAVE A 1956 Ford 660 and the PTO quit working. I cannot turn it with my hand and it does not spin when engaged. What am I looking at for repair and cost of repair.

If while not engaged you can not turn it by hand, I would say best chance that the rear bearing is locked up. Pull the side cover off (that has the PTO lever) and see if anything looks out of the ordinary inside though if you can engage and disengage OK I suspect no issue there. If the rear bearing- 4 bolts at the rear and the shaft assembly should pull out the back. Can't tell you what the cost would be depending on do it yourself or shop time...hopefully bearing and seal and oil would be Parts cost.

I doubt that the bearing could seize up because something ahead of it would have to be apart. Like Steve posted take the cover off and operate the slide sleeve back and forth manually and see what goes on when it is ahead vs. when it is slid to the rear.

Have you engaged the PTO Lever? Sometimes it is the basic stuff that baffles us. OOPPSS...forgot to turn ign key ON or OFF; forgot to turn Sediment Bulb Valve ON or OFF;
forget to check oil levels...just saying.
