1990 Ford 2810 value

Guys i have located one of these with only 463 hours. It has original tires, very good original paint, very very little pedal wear, original everything and drives like a new one. How much is it worth? Original owner just passed away.

Thanks

If it's a 1990 it's a precious one.... 3 cylinder 10 series production ended in '89 for most models.
Might want to check the UNIT number and find out what it really is.

As far as value... that would depend on transmission options and hydraulic options but I'd say you're going to be in the 6-8K range. Also depends on the local market for such things...

Rod,

It has the standard 8x2 tranny and 2 remotes. One thing i forgot to mention is that it cranked and started very fast and runs fantastic but it had slightly more black smoke than my 4000 and 3910. Any thoughts or worries on this? I will check the serial number but i know it starts with BB.

I wouldn't worry too much about the smoke. Just make a point of changing/cleaning the outer air filter and CHANGE the inner filter. You'll probably find a date code from about 1988 on the filters...
If the rest of it's as you described then it's probably a decent tractor. Just give it a good service when you get it home.

Thanks Rod. I plan to speak with the guys son on Friday of this week and will make him a offer then as he's holding it for me till that time.

One last question is that i currently own a NAA and it struggles with a 5' brush hog and has the same power ratings (roughly) as the 2810 diesel. Even though the specs are the same should the diesel do a noticeable amount better. Seems to me IF both engines are in near oem condition then there should be no difference. Is that correct? Probably a dumb question but figured the 2810 would perform alot better until i reviewed the specs for both machines. Both of them are around 31 or 32 pto hp.

Thanks and i will post back once we have agreed on a offer.

Maniac,

I don't have a lot of experience with diesels, but am confident the 2810 will handle the brush cutter better than your NAA. Even when horsepower #s are similar, I believe the diesel engines reach max horsepower at lower RPMs and for lack of a better way of saying it, "like the work". While a gas engine will suffice, it will feel like it has to work harder. That diesel should be a lot easier on fuel as well.

My 971 is gas and suits me well, but I only put about 50 hours/year an her and only work her hard once in a while.

Hmmmm. I'd expect the 10 to handle it a bit better than the NAA, but not a lot better. Power is power regardless of thesource. The torque curves may be a bit different... but in reality both make their power a full throttle/speed. I would expect the 2810 to have a LOT more low end torque right down to the 1100 rpm range. The thing to remember is that when those engines are loaded to exceed their torque at idle to mid speed they do fall flat on their faces. Running them faster doesn't help. Only thing you can do is reduce load....

Really... the NAA should do a bit better with a 5' mower unless you're in extremly heavy crop. It may not be as healthy as you think.

Guess it could be little weaker than i think. As for oil pressure it normally runs 35-38 psi if that helps. With the 5ft cutter it does ok most times but requires 1st gear in heavy waist high fescue.

A heavy crop of fescue can be a load to cut...
Oil pressure sounds about normal if you're using a 10W30 oil. If it's straight 30 or 15w40 then it sounds a bit slack. Still quite acceptable... but showing some wear. Nothing unexpected of a 58 year old tractor...
