I'm looking for a shift cable and tube for my tractor.
The only one I found included the shifter along with the cable and tube.
It was almost $500.00.
Any ideas?

yep.. many sos are cheap to buy but have expensive parts ( due to them being hard to find. )

I have heard reports of others using stock tubing to make the tubes, and re-making the cables as well.. a-la- home brew.

Your only viable options are a new cable from CNH, which, if available, will be very expensive, and used parts from salvage yards or other owners.

There are quadrants available but unfortunately most salvage yards CUT the cable! It's a special cable as you have likely found out. However, I had a bad quadrant end and was able to drill out & use a set screw to anchor it into the quadrant. Key is that it is secure where it screws into the valve mechanism. Will take some time, but if you could mend / weld / splice the broken cable to a similar diameter speedometer cable and upsize the tube to allow for the splice, it would work to secure a std speedometer cable to the quadrant!
Have some parts but not enough cable to do you any good. Takes a lot of patience as well!
