2110 Rear Axle Removal

I am helping a friend resolve leaking rear axle seals on his 1986 Ford 2110. After removing the rear wheels, I unbolted the cap at the outer end of the axle to remove the axle. problem is I cannot get either axle to pull out. Does anybody know what's involved to pull these rear axles?

Not sure. I know they do not wanna slide out. I tried a little "persuassion" with a five pound hammer, but started getting to be a little too much for comfort. It does seem the outer bearings are a little beat up as I can feel that when turning the axle.

A 1986 2110 is a Japanese compact tractor. You aren't going to get the axle out without removing the brake and axle shaft housing from the rear axle center section and then removing the bull gear and inner bearing from the axle shaft.

Correct.

I do have parts diagrams, so that should help. So the inner bearings / bull gears need to be removed to pull the axle out? I guess I"m in for a bigger job than expected. I can tell already the outer bearings need replacing so removing the housings will at least give me a chance to check out the inner bearings.

The parts breakdown clearly shows a large nut at the inboard end of the axle shaft. A cursory look should confirm my information.
