1953 Golden Jubilee

I am contemplating buying a 53 Golden Jubilee and would like to know if it is geared low enough to run the Howard rototiller also does the Jubilee have the live PTO ? Thanks for the information

the howard rotovator was made to be run by a machine with the add on howard post-tranny.

the naa has pretty much the same trans and gearing as an 8n.. thus if you don't have the thoward tranny.. then NO.. it's not a good candidate for a rototiller due to high ground speed.

naa+ has live hyds.

SOME N and NAA have been equipped with a live pto via a mechanical or hyd activated pinion clutch.. it's pretty much just adding a 2nd stage of clutching, so you can hand clutch the drivetrain while pto is running.

they are a bit rare to find one working.. if you want live pto, step up to a ford 660.. it has a 2 stage clutch, thus live pto. ( has a 5spd trans and would be slightly better match for a tiller... heck.. an 860 with more ponies, 5spd, and live pto is even better at that.. )

Sound covered it pretty well only thing I might add is step up even more to a 3000 and you will have an even better match. Oh and forget the Jubilee for running a tiller

Thanks guys for your input, I am also looking at a ford 850. would that run a rotter tiller? This is a 1955 and looks good. I will have to go see it of course. Thanks

There was quite a detailed discussion on another board a few days ago. Relative merits of a Jubilee, Hundred series and Thousand series Fords were discussed.

Unfortunately I'm unable to link to that thread. If you email me, I will give you that link.

Jim I appreciate the information, however unable to email you PM under construction, I am looking at a 861 Ford, would that be low enough to use a rototiller ? my email is [email protected]
