I am a new owner of 1983 ford 1910 and the pto grinds when I try to shift it in gear . I think the clutch is adjusted right. Everything seems to be work fine, the pto will shift you idle the engine really low and force it. I kow this can't be rights, any suggestion.

It sounds to me like your tractor has the 2-stage clutch/live pto and the pto clutch disc is rusted to the pressure plate. If you have a way of applying a heavy pto load like running a bushog in heavy grass and then pushing the clutch down once in a while when its working hard, it might pop loose. If you want to try this, first see if you can start the tractor with the pto in gear so you won't be starting the bushog by forcing the pto shifter. Are there any access covers on the bellhousing that might help you to see what's going on? Forcing the shifter does cause lots of wear, of course.

Hey thanks for the info I will check it out. That is what I was kinda thinking my self. The person I bought didn't any pto diven equip. But this is my first with a live pto. I have heard that the Clutch for the transmission can rust to the preassure plate, but wasn't sure how the pto was driven.

Thanks again.Wade
