1973 2000 hydraulic pump rebuild ques.

I am rebuilding the pump on my 1973 2000 and have come to removing the round plate in the end piece (the one with all the little roll pins in it). I cant seem to get the old one out. Are ther any tips or tricks you all can pass along? Thanks.

Hello James, Youe message is not clear. So, I assume that you are talking about a dick that is aprox. 1-1/4" in diameter???????????

There should be a 'snap-ring' holding this in place. After you remove rhe snap ring, nothing else is retaining the disk. It may be that the dick will get lodged in the groove that the snap ring seats in. Anyway, use a magnet to lift it out. :D

NOte: upon re-assembly disks I have installed have a slight concave shapt, they were not entirely flat. When re-installed, correctly the disk would push the 'o' ring seal (beneath it) to the outsides of rhe opening, (that is what you want).
gently work the disk & snap ring back into place. :D
If it leaks, you can replace the 'o' ring with the pump mounted on the tractor...sl

I am not talking about that disk. The plate I am refering to is about 4" or so in diameter and has a buch of holes in it as well as 6 or so roll pins that stick up about 1/8" or so that hold these little springs.

That's the valve plate. They can be challenging. One of the six bolt holes is offset just a little. You can get a pin punch in there and just catch the edge of the valve plate and drive it out just far enough to break the seal of the upper gasket.

I turned a piece of steel rod down on my lathe to the exact size of the bolt hole, hit with a hammer and the plate popped right out. Thanks guys.
