seames I have one that's sucked its self in (collapsed),,, tried to set it low but its not gonna do the job,,, I have yet to find a new one,,, whats the deal is the carb now junk cuzz of a float

On another note I did not bid on a 3000 Saturday,,, the bid was $1850 plus 10% buyers premium and 6.75% sales tax and I did not hit it one more time,,, its one of those deals if I bid the high bidder would have backed off are maybe hit it one more time to test me

I knew the other bidder so as it goes saved him a few hundred and told him he could sell off his 8n cuzz he was gonna like the 3000,,, what are friends for

The 3000 was a plain Jane,,, no options but a good runner,,, engine had just been rebuilt built the owner was one of those guys that looks after nuttin till it breaks

Though not inexpensive, replacement floats for Holley carburetors are available. It is much less expensive than a replacement carb.

A link for one is below.

Float for Holley Carb

Prolly available at the dealer. That plus the right economizer valve plus the rest of the kit is going to run big bucks. And you may still be unsatified with it. Might have bid one more time just for kicks myself on that 3000. But then you were there and I wasn't.

drilled a small hole in each float and popped them back out with a little air pressure and got the float to work,,, carb on but it runs extremely rich,,, remove the idle mixture screw and it runs fair

the carb has been rebuilt (not by me) so i spec I will have to go over the rebuild not that the float works,,, used the clear tube plumbed into the drain hole and ran up the side of the carb to confirm float level,,, this trick should b in everones tips file

history on the tractor , 3 cyl gas

It has always had low compression, first time I worked on it you had to give it a shot of start'n fluid to git it going,,, hot cold don't matter,,, if you start it don't shut it off less you have some spray

I spec the owner uses it 1 hour a year so puts up with starting issues

Compression
1) 85 psi
2) 85
3} 60

with a dose of oil in each cyl

1) 125
2) 125
3) 100

cylinder leakage in all cyl 80 to 90%

No leakage from the valves,,, its all in the crankcase (rings)

did soak it a day are so in GM top engine cleaner and it no starts with out spray but did not recheck compression

Valve adjustment should b ok adjusted them 10 hr. ago do the math (uses it 1 hr. a year)

So when I get the carb straighten out and get around to check'n the oil pressure he wants to ring it are go for the kill and go thru the engine

Its a nice clean unfarmerized tractor

gotta pull the PTO,,, it leaks and has some end play,, other than that no leaks
