Have a Ford 1310 3 cyc diesel. Getting ready for spring plowing, tried to crank it Kicked over good and fired up. Ran for a few seconds then shut down. Now it willattempt to start and then lug down as if a bad battery. Battery has been checked and it is good.
Is there anything like a 'vapor lock" you get on gas engines on a diesel?

Not a diesel mechanic. Only diesel I have is the tractor. No problem for 10 yrs.

Any hel-p appreciated

Yes, Ole'farmer, Diesels get something like vapor lock. In fact when a diesel starts then dies, it's almost always because of a plugged filter, You pretty much have to change it before the start of each season. Charge that battery any way because it needs to crank over fast. And give it an extra dose of power Service fuel treatment if it has been sitting. It probably has a little sludge on the bottom of the tank from condensation. Also try to never let it sit very long without a full tank, in order to cut down on condensation.

Thanks, showcrop, It worked. Drained fuel tank, added fresh fuel and bleed/purged fuel system and engine started.
Now on to the work at hand!
