2000 diesel crankshaft

I see this site sells a 3000 crank that fits the gas / diesel..

However in the 2000 parts list.. i only see 4 cyl models listed for the crank.. so can't help you much. If you havn't recvd and answer by the time i get off work, I'll look up the part number in my MPC..

In the older 3 cylinder tractors the gas and diesel cranks are made of different iron. Diesel is steel and gas is cast. Hit it with a hammer, if it sound like a dinner bell it is steel. I believe the ending letter of the cast number is the key if you have an "old" manual. You could put a diesel in a gas, but I"m not sure a gas crank in a diesel motor will hold up. There are only three strokes in 3 cylinders, 3.8, 4.2, 4.4.
 
Mines a diesel. I got the tractor from a guy for $500. It had a knock & he said he was going to run it till it threw a rod. I dropped the pan & found the # 3 rod upper bearing shell was broken. It marked up the journal pretty good. I found a place that will cut the crank & include the bearings for $350. does this sound like a good deal ?
