I am beginning a quest for an older Fergy tractor that would be suited for use with a loader I already have. Requirements would be Power Steering 3pt & live PTO. I think a gas model would be most to my liking but would not rule out a diesel. Sofar as gas models go there seem to be 4 engines that are probably of suitable size Standard Gas 87 x 92, Continental Z 134 Continental Z 145 and Perkins gas as well as Continental and Perkins Diesels. Were any of the older Ferguson models equipped with power steering? I have been told that the most durable unit employed 2 hydraulic rams on the front end to do the work I looked at a 135 MF it seemed to use a torque amplifier type arrangement still using the steering gear box.
I guess my questions are which Engine/steering combinations might I find when I start to check out ads in local publications and what might I expect to pay. Does anyone know the HP of the Z-145 and Perkins Gas engines
Thank you

None of the H. Ferguson tractors had power steering originally, though some possibly have been modified later. You might post on the Massy-Ferguson board and find out about them. If you know the tractor model that used the engine you are researching, you will find the HP here:
