Good Morning Everyone

I thought for a long while I owned a 1950 Ferguson, But now Im not sure. My wife's uncle worked for years at a massey ferguson dealership in Belleville, Ontario. Hes says its a 1952. My serial number is as Follows TEA289050, can some one tell me what the TEA stands for. Also I have an original loader Ferguson serial number on the right side near the front that reads (Type LV020)
(Loader 16865) Any help would be great. He also states that the 12 volt system on the tractor was original. Again I was told when I bought the Tractor from the owner that it was converted about 5 years ago. I would love to know for sure just what i do own. This is a great site, with lots of expert advise
Thanks Barry

Barry, Your wife's uncle is quite right, the serial number relates to a Coventry, England built tractor, manufactured in 1952. As Paul states, 12 volt electrics were phased in after S/no 250001, although some tractors were fitted with 6 V systems after that to use up the 6V parts. I have not been able to find a Ferguson U.K. manufactured loader with the designation L-VO-20. The 'O' suffix makes me think this was of "overseas" manufacture, probably Detroit. The U.K. manufactured loaders were coded L-UE-20 and M-UE-20, 21, 24, or 25 and M-UE-40. I believe the "E" suffix stands for England as in TE which means Tractor England, ie built at Coventry, England.
Hope this is of interest,
Regards,
Pete. Regards,
Pete.

Barry - on the TE series, 12v systems came on line at SN 250001 (1952). The difference between a TE 20 and a TEA is that the TEA had a Standard-built gasoline engine whereas the TE-20 had a Continental engine.

A good resource for information on your loader is Gene Kruse (FergusonGuy at aol.com). Note that I did not use the "circled a" symbol in his e-mail address because his e-mail address will not show up on your screen if I do so on this site. Be sure you replace "at" with the "circled a" in his address if you e-mail him. Strange quirk!

Good luck.

Paul

Hi Barry,
Well, Hopefully I can answer some of your questions. Below is a link courtesy of Evan McDonald regarding serial numbers. (Looks like a 1952 in your case)
TE series means Tractor European
TO series means Tractor Overseas (North American market)
I don't know what the A stands for, but it appears that yours what built in England where I believe the Ferguson Company was established. I also believe that your tractor was originally 6 volts and converted. The only reason I say that is because my '54 TO30 was originally a 6 volt and later converted. I can't magine a tractor made 2 years prior to mine would've come from the factory with 12 volts. Hope this helps.

Chuck, You're nearly right. TE means tractor England, ie built at Coventry, and the A denotes the Standard petrol engine. Similarly, TED means Coventry built petrol/paraffin engine, and TEF means Coventry built diesel engine. There were lots of other suffixes to the TE designation, denoting narrow tractors, industrial tractors, vinyard tractors, etc.
Hope this is of use,
Regards,
Pete.

Thanx for the info, Pete. Not wishing to give out wrong info, I realy appreciate it.
Where did you find such detailed information? Is there a book dedicated to Ferguson? I'd really like to get something like that.

Thanx again,
Chuck
