Was a good running ferguson, & suddlenly broke a valve & scoured sleeve. Can a person find the one replacement sleeve, and rebuild the head, or would you advise a alternate plan? This engine ran good, and did not seem to need any major work, b4 this prob. Thank You in advance Dave Zook

How beat up is the head? Exhaust valve broke? I have heard exhaust valves on air cooled engine will break because the metal crystalizes. Sloppy valve guides will allow the valve to cock. Lesson here is check your other valves. Whats the rest of the tractor like? If you do decide to repair the engine, half way jobs always let me down later, and it was never worth the money saved. Do you plan to keep the tractor? Can you find a good used engine? Whats the unit worth after the repair? What is its current salvage value? Write each option down on paper, then decide.
