Ferguson 30 Low on power

I have a ferguson 30, I think, with a z129 engine.
It runs great at idle but when it is put under load or just opened up a little it seems to run out of gas. I have checked the fuel flow to the carb and it seems to be a steady drip, not quite a stream. Currently I am having the carb rebuilt and have replaced the fuel bowl. The guys at the tractor shop say this is a classic for an engine rebuild.
Last time I ran the tractor for any real work was with a mower on and it didn't really have enough power to work the 5' brush mower. I have checke the compression on the engine and am getting around #100 per cylinder, 2 higher and 2 lower.
What do the expers think? And how much should a rebuild cost? Should I do the water pump and starter at the same time? My other guess is that it is a governor problem.

Additional idea. Check the power(main) jet adjustment. Start with 1 1/4 turns open, adjust under load to obtain the best power and throttle response. Do NOT operate at less than 1 full turn open! The Ferguson engines are designed to use fuel for additional valve cooling under heavy useage, so it will seem like it is running rich when not pulling hard, and it is. Turn the adjustment 1/16 turn each time and test it. The Ferguson governor is quite reliable, and unless worn or tinkered with, does not need any adjustments. Mine is 48 yrs.old and has never been touched. The linkage should be oiled during normal maintainence though. I hope these ideas save you some money and headaches while solving your problem.

What Jim said sounds good. Also, check ignition timing. I think that's more likely than governor problem. Professional overhaul is maybe $1400, but I'm not convinced you need it. If you do, replacing water pump might be good idea, and also think about clutch too. Starter not an issue with overhaul as that is easy to remove and have rebuilt at any time.

Your tractor should play with a 5 foot brush hog.
I don't think you are getting enough fuel. Should be a stream of gas. You could also check to make sure all your plugs are fireing. Use a pair of pliers with insulated handles and pull one plug wire at a time and listen for change in the engine. You will also find out if there are any holes in the insulation of your pliers. "ouch"
Your compression sounds ok. And if your plugs are not fouling with oil I don't think you need a rebuild yet. My Z120 smokes like a fiend for a couple of minutes after it is started but it runs like a raped ape. I run a 5 foot brush hog in third gear. Second gear when the grass is half way up the hood. You could watch the governor rod when you give it throtle, it should be moving back to open the carb up all the way as the engine stalls. If it does that it is working.
Still think it is a fuel restriction though.

If the fuel doesn't run out in a stream you are plugged probably in the sediment bowl area. My bet is inside the tank Unscrew the bowl asm. from the tank you'll find the problem there

I also had the same problem did almost everything, then I took the needle valve out and there it was the packing was pluging some of the flow. The needle valve worked real good so at first didnt even look at it. Take it apart and make sure you get good flow. There is also a screen in the top side of the sediment bowl just above the glass and gasket.
