I have seen reduction boxes fitted to TEA 20's before but I have never seen a high & Low ratio control lever fitted in an integrated way to a TEA20. My tractor has this feature. Does anybody know anything of its origin? My tractor has a serial number of TEA 24114 which makes it an early 1948 model.

Click on the link below to see the photos of the reduction box and my tractors arrangement.

I would appreciated any additional information about this.

Thanks

Vaughan

Hello Vaughan,
A friend of mine has a Ferguson TE20 with a Ferguson Epicyclic reduction unit which I read on the Net. incorporates live PTO. Very interesting. I have my friends tractor in the shed and was going to fit the Ferguson unit in front of my Howard reduction unit, however thats seems impossible. The Ferguson unit as you probably know, has a hydraulically applied brake band on the epicyclic, which I found surprising. Would be more than pleased to hear from you as soon as possible. Tom.
PS Would be happy to call you on the phone.

Why didn't you ask me about the Ferguson Reduction box as the picture you have is a picture off my web site showing a Fergy Tractor I purchased to remove the reduction box from. The reduction box you have is almost certainly manufactured by Howard for use with Howard rotary hoes. The Ferguson reduction box also has the benefit of Live PTO. The Ferguson reduction box is now fitted to my TEF and works well.

Your quite right I did take the photo of your reduction gearbox off your site. I didn't ask you about it as I couldn't find an email address on your Internet site.

I would be interested in having your email as I am new to Fergusons and would appreciate some local information (by local I mean Australian).

Thanks very much for your information. It appears as you are right in identifying my reduction box as a Howard and associated with a rotary hoe. I have subsequently uncovered a plaque on the dash which warns against using the reduction box with any other implement other than the supplied rotary hoe.

Regards

Vaughan
