I just saw a Continental engine on an old Piper Cub (aircraft). Is it the same company? Is Continental still around and do they have old blocks to sel?

Many years ago, Continental Motors split up with Ryan Aircraft buying controlling interest in the aircraft engine division. Eventually Teledyne bought out Ryan/Continental aircraft. They no longer make civilian small aircraft engines but they do sell some parts and rebuild kits.

The Continental industrial section (the unit that sold truck, tractor, and other industrial engines was located in Muskegon, Michigan. When Teledyne took over, the Muskegon plant was shut down. All the parts stock and engine specs were sold to Montes Equipment Co. in Chicago. They still carry some parts and have a web site.

The small industrial sector was sold to a group of former Continental management investors and is now known as WIS-CON Total Power (WIS= Wisconsin engines and CON=Continental engines). They are located in Memphis, selling a totally new and redesigned generation of Continental industrial engines. They carry no old parts or blocks for the older-generation of Continental engines.

Hope this information helps rather than confuses.

Below is the link that I found to Continental. I contacted them some time back about a replacement engine, even just the same bellhousing pattern, and they said they didn't have anything. If you have better luck please post it here.

Continental made engines for several different applications such as: boat,airplane,tractor, auto, truck, and heavy equiptment. They range from 2cyl to 16 cyl. That's my understanding of the company anyway. I believe they still exist but doubt they would have a spare Z120/Z129 block. You might try a search to see what you uncover.
