I have an old Ferguson that was supposed to be a T030. Serial number is 28324 on the dash. Now I'm thinking this is a T020. Also, it will not run smoothly unless it's choked which leads me to believe it's starving for fuel. I've tried to open the needle valve adjustments on thr carb without success. Do I need to rebuild the carb? Thanks for any info., Alan

Sounds like you have a TO20. If so, engine serial probably starts with Z120.... The TO30 engine is a Z129. Rebuilding carb isn't difficult and the full kit is less than $30. Basic kit with needle and seat and gaskets is about half that.

Your tractor appears to be a TO20, built in 1950. The motor model will tell more. I believe Neal or one of the other guys know more about the motor id's. If the sediment bowl is clean the carb. is likely gummed up, you might try cleaning it by adding a gas system cleaner to the tank. I'd drain the old fuel first, this gas we are forced to use goes bad quickly. If the easy way doesn't work, you will want to rebuild the carb., like you say. Look at the link in the left column for parts suppliers. Stick with it, these are good little tractors, even at 50years old.
