I have a 1953 Ferguson TO 30 that is ready to paint. I'm needing to know the original paint color. Is it Metalic Flint Grey? I live in a rural area that doesn't have a big selection of paint and would like to know who sells it.

Steven, I used Rustoelm Smoke gray to repaint my TO20. It is cheap, available locally at most hardware stores and is close enough to look good. I sprayed and used Namptha to thin. Came out just fine. The big plus for me was when I chip or want to touch Fergie up...back to the hardware store and get a new can! And other than the radiator core..duh..EVERYTHING is gray. Mine is shown in the photo section, TO20, sn692. Unfortunatly the pix is not the best, it is gray, not as blue as all looks.

I have it on good authority from a tractor restorer that NAPA Grey #99L3740 is the best match.

Bob,

Is the engine block on TO-20 also supposed to be grey. Is the CT Ferg. Paint heat proof?

My tractor looks pretty good but could stand a coat of paint. I actually use it quite a bit though and I am afraid in 5-10 years it would have to be done again anyhow. Do you all with working tractors paint them?

Thanks

Frank

Frank,

I would love to paint my TE20, but I use the thing year round, and can't figure out what I would do if I tore it down to paint, then needed it. A person almost needs 2 tractors! 1 to work, and 1 to work on. Hey, that doesn't sound so bad! I wonder if the wife would buy that .

Regards,
Clark
