problem with ferguson. idles great, but tries to run wide open when gas lever is barely moved forward. is this governor problem or carb.? govenor does not move or respond reguardless of tractor speed.

neal, your comment on the linkage being out of adjustment was on the money. I adjusted the linkage the afternoon after my e-mail. This morning I read your reply. All the moves I made were exactly as you called them. Just wanted you to know you were right on with your suggestions. Danny.

Danny,
I hope you have the original or I&T shop manual.
You definitely have governor problems. Sounds like it's stuck in one position. Check all the linkages to make sure there isn't a bind in them. The original shop manual goes into detail on rebuilding and adjusting the governor. The I&T is somewhat vague and vague is not what you want. Hope this points you in the right direction.
