I was just wondering if any-onw owns an original fergie crane? I have purchased one (luckily!!) and I am told that they are extremely rare, and worth well over UK�300

Jim, you are talking about the three point boom pole (sometines refered to as gin poles over here) aren't you???

I worked around the little grey Fergies a lot when they were new and there were several different varities of Ferguson boom poles during those years. I think Ferguson changed suppliers several times and there were several different strengths also. I have one from the Ford-Ferguson era that has the open hooks. Dearborn (Ford) sold an identical one. I wonder if the English version was even different yet.

There were several independent manufactures makeing them at the time. I believe the Arps Company was one of them. I think they are still being manufactured and I think you can still buy a new one....

I gave $37.50 for mine back in about 1950 and I thought that was a lot of money then.... The money was real back in those days....

I don't think that is it. It was manufactured by ferguson and are vvvvery rare over here. I'll mail you a picture of one

Interesting!!
My Brother has just made a crane for his Fergie.
Made from a crane from a frozen meat wagon and mounted on the axel and centre link. Hyd. power from the top connection under the seat. Arms tied down and it works great. Its also got an extending boom which is handy lifting onto a trailer.
