Here is the serial number of the Ferguson I have, and don't know any thing about this tractor. The serial number is TE 87300. I would like to know the year and model of this machine. I know by the plate on tractor that it was made in England. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
You have without doubt got a 1949 tractor and yes built at Banner Lane, Coventry, England. Have another look at the serial plate, does it have a letter A after the TE? What type of engine has it got?

I have reasently pulled one from a ditch and i have started cleaning it.
But an old fellow told me they were all dated on the side ( the right just under the seat and the bottom of the caseing )the numbers there told you when it was made asin 24305 is 24/march/1955.
If it had 0 on the end it 45 1=46 2=47 and so on.
He may be Wrong or is he?

Lyle,
Evan MacDonald has a fantastic website for Fergies, and according to what I could figure from it, you have a 1949 TE20. Click on the following:
Link
(You may have to copy and paste.)
That should take you to his page on serial #'s.
If that doesn't work for you, on the right side of this column, look under Research and Info and then click on Tractor Sites.
Hope this helps.

Chuck
