I have found 3 tractors that I could use some help on comparing. All appear to run well. First is a Case 885, 1980 model 42 hp diesel. It has definitely been worked, but seems fit. It has a Allied quick detach loader on it and dual remotes. Price = $8200. Second is a MF 65 with a loader & power steering, not great looking but decent shape. No frills, but looks like a work horse. Price = $4500. Third, is Ferguson 35 TO model with loader, no power steering, new tires and a new repaint. Price = $4200. I need the tractor to help move logs for a log home building project and later for general brush hog, small tilling work. Any thoughts on any of these tractors would be great.

Marty go for the MF 65, good tractor plus good price. A little pressure washing an a gallon of paint will make the difference.

I remember reading a posting that said the front axle setup on the TO series is not strong enough to support real weight on the loader. The problem arises when a front wheel encounters an upward slope under load and the axle bends backwards. That could really ruin your day! If your site is free of mudholes your might not encounter this limitation. Good luck!

The axle is only weak on the TO series with the standard axle, the utility is a much heaver axle, I have bolth, my 55 S/N 140963, and my 56(I don't remember the s/n off hand) the 55 came with a Wagner loader, and the front axle is noticeably heavier than the standard one on the 56, the 55 also steers much easier than the 56, when the loader is off of course. The utility axle can be installed on a standard axle equipped tractor with a day or so of downtime. the utility axle is of heavier construction, has larger and stronger bearings etc.

watch if using mf65 front wheel bearings are inclined to be bit onlight side. Keep bearings adjusted, maybe we were carrying heavier than they were originally intended ,agree with other person very good tractor and gave very little trouble
