Is there a way to recognise a Ferguson 40 from a Massey 50 by using the serial #. I am going to a auction and a Massey 50 is advertised but I want to make sure it is not a 40 that was repainted as a 50.

Thanks

Easy way to tell look at the grill the 40 will have the lines running up and down and the 50 will have them running from side to side. Also the hoods are different, The 40 has a seperate nose piece and the 50 the whole top of the hood raises. Other than sheet metal there is no difference in the rest of the tractors, The 40 being rarer.Scott
