This may be a dumb question, but no wheres do I see the answer in the manuals. Which is the # 1 cylinder? I assume it is the one closest to the radiator and # 4 being the one closest to the steering wheel. I am setting the points for timeing want to make sure I start out right.

It must be a John Thing! John (UK) got it right. There are no Dumb questions. Just dumb mistakes from not asking questions. My dad always told me that it's not what you know, but what you don't know, that'll kill you. Sometimes the simplest things are taken for granted, and not questioned. The front cylinder is the #1, and the firing order is 1-2-4-3. Good luck, and happy tractoring, John W, (Bill) Fugit

Yes you are correct, number one is the one nearest the radiator. But it would help us if you say what you are working on If its a TO20 the points should be .022" and the plugs .025"
