Rebuilt carburetor several months ago and tractor ran fine. In the last several days, unless I pull choke out 1/3, the tractor looses power and stops. When the choke is out(1/3) the tractor runs fine. Can any one give me some guidance as to what may be my problem. I guess when you own Two TE's you run in to many problems. Thanks for any assistance.

I like James' advice, especially the part about a potential air leak. Maybe the gasket and attachment to the manifold has loosened. But it is possible for an electrical problem to mask what appear to be carb symptoms. Poor electrical performance sometimes requires more/richer fuel to overcome that poor performance. So I wouldn't totally rule out points and timing, etc., though I'm betting on an air leak in this case.

Which engine and carburettor have you got? From the suddenness of the problem, it sounds like a partial blockage, so here are some generic thoughts:-

Check that you don't have any air leaks (manifold gasket, carb to manifold gasket, throttle spindle)

Check that the float in the carb is operating correctly, and that there is enough fuel getting to the carb.

Check that your fuel line is not partly blocked, and that all/any filters are clear.

Check that your air filter has enough clean oil in it (too little oil will make the mixture weak).

I would not adjust anything on the carb until the above has been checked - tempting though it is to assume the carb is the problem!! (who, me, make that mistake, no, never, honest guv)

Then check that you don't have a partly blocked main jet (unscrew it completely, and use a bit of fuse wire to clean/clear the jet orifice).

Hope this helps.

Got problrm solved. Took carb. off again. No jets appeared blocked. All of inside looked real clean.I then replaced the Venturi with a different one. I put the carb. back on the TE20 (Marvel-Schebler) and it works perfectly. Was kind of a hit and miss project but good to keep in mind.

Thanks for all your help. Will keep in touch
