The nose cone is busted on my starter. Replacement starters are over $200(rebuilt). I'm looking for anything that will work or adapt to the to30.. Thanks By the way, has anyone welded a nose cone back together?

Your local automotive electrical shop probably can repair it, or put a new nose cone on it far cheaper than buying a starter.

Stan, Had that problem several years ago. Had nose cone welded first time. It broke. Found another nose cone. This time I got my professional assistant to help. We timed engine by the book and I shimmed the started out. Looked like the Bendix gear was hitting the flywheel. Make sure your timming is right on as out of time can cause the starter to break.

Make sure the dist. advance pulls back to initial advance when you shut engine off. If it some times hangs up with some or fully advanced the engine can kick back when you start engine.
