i'm trying to replace the upper steering housing on my TO 30,i've been trying to remove the steering wheel, could i just unbolt the steering housing (4 bottom bolts and bolts holding it to the dash) and then pick up on the whole thing,(steering housing,steering wheel shaft and all)the shaft has the teeth at bottom going into the steering gear sector,will the shaft slide up off the steering gear sector? i'm replacing the steering housing because it cracked, someone welded it but it cracked again at the weld,is the steering housing made of white metal? i was told you can't weld white metal.

Jeff;
I don't know if it would be the same but, I removed the whole steering assy (steering wheel still attached) on my TO-35. If you haven't already, get yourself a set of manuals for that tractor- worth their weight in gold...
