okay, thanks to all who offered me help with the diagrams, got a good working one. all the links to diagrams in the forum archives are broken, btw. but now, there is something different on the tractor we have got. theres a condenser alongside the coil, and i need to know if it goes to the pos (+) or neg(-). anyone got any ideas? someone suggesed that it should be the pos, but they werent sure and suggested i post it. Help!

Mindy - My 1950 TO-20 is still 6V poitive ground. The negative (-) side of the coil goes to the ignition switch and the positive (+) side goe to the distributor, which has the condensor inside of it. So the condensor is connected to the poitive (+) side.
