Good afternoon everyone, Its been a while since I posted a message. Just a quick note to let everyone know my carb has now been fixed by a pro, I have been plowing snow for a few days now. The carb was cleaned inside and out and it looks like a brand new one. New gaskets, factory set, works like a new one. Thanks again to all who posted responses. This is a great site

I had the same problem , after all how hard is it to take out the old parts and put in the new . But darn ,it would run , but not as well as my Dad said it should . Maybe the old man is just dreaming about the good old days when he and the Fergie were younger and doing most of the tractor work together . Finally I took it to our local Massey dealer (Carson's in Perth) and had a complete overhaul done on carb . Looks like new , runs like new . Somethings you gotta leave to the pros , best money I've spent on the old girl in years . ----- Bill

Excellent news Barry,

Fun being able to play, isn't it. I'm rather envious as the ground here in the UK is so wet (flood warnings in operation in Kent) that almost no-one has been able to do anything on the land since late October!!

Like Jim W, if you can find out what the problem was, I think it would be a huge help for the rest of us - any chance they'd tell you?

Hey Barry,
After all that, that must be quite a relief. Did they tell you what the main problem was, and would you tell us where you had it done?
I am reluctantly thinking I may have to go this route, but I keep wondering what it is that "they" know that I can't figure out myself.
????

Hi Everyone
Ok here is what happened. - I thought I was pretty good at doing this kind of stuff, heck I built 2 homes, apparently this little piece of harware was more than I could handle
- I took it back to my local massey dealer, they have an older tech that used to work on these carbs years ago, He smiled brightly when I took it in
- They have all the power sinks and industrial cleaner stuff to take my carb and make it look brand new( HONEST the darn thing look brand new)

They put in a brand new kit which they stock at their dealership

- To summarize - new kit - 2 hours labour to take the carb completely apart and re-assemble - factory set the carb
All I did was put it back on and bingo she runs like she was brand new. I guess I have a bit of my grandfather in me, Stubbourn as all get out
Thanks again to all who assisted
