MF 255 Steering (Update)

When i drove out of my barn, steering worked fine. Before I could connect to my bush hog, the steering wheel would just turn in circles freely with no steering. What do i need to look at?

I have two hoses running to the front two steering rams. After it quit steering (wheel just turns in circles), I looked for leaks, but thinking that would only make it hard to steer if it drained the fluid. Needless to say, left the tractor there for now.

My repair manual doesn't address this issue; never had any problems in the last 10 years until now.

If it is low or out of fluid, the wheel will spin. There is no mechanical
connection if it is what I'm thinking, called Orbitrol steering.

Fix the hose, fill it with oil, it should work. It may take some time to
work the air out, keep an eye on the oil as the level will drop as the air
works out.

PS: Take the bad hose off, take it to an industrial hose supply, they usually can match it up and make a new one.

Some better auto/truck supplies can also make hoses.
