1948 TO 20, good metal, runs good, no starter. About what could I expect to pay for a starter and whre might I find one? Any idea of the value of this tractor from just what I am able to tell about it. I have not seen it yet. The parts seem to be hard to find.

If the starter is missing I would start to question why. Price is difficult without seeing what all is gone or bent or stuck. Could be from $50 to $4000. I am more interested in your saying it is a 48. Only 1800 are 48's, check the ID tag close to confirm. Look at the SN section of this site and go see the Fergie armed to the teeth with info.

The boy said he bought it from his father-in-law. The starter went bad while the father-in-law had it. He took it somewhere and did not get it back for some reason. I don't know how long ago this was. The boy said the closest onew he could find was in Oklahoma, I think. He was going to restore and "lost interest". He says it can be pulled and started and everything works, according to what he said his dad said. He first told me "about $700". But his dad told him he needed $1100. The boy said he thought his dad may have done some work onit. Only 1800 made? Hmmm, may have to go look at it. That may make parts awful hard to come by, though.

Tx for the responses

No, only 1800 in 1948 he means. There are tens or even hundreds of thousands of them still around; you can get parts.

Heheh, I guess some of the parts would interchange at that. I understood it to mean that only 1800 was made for that year, I just got a little airheaded thinking about the parts. Seems like a small production number. Wouldn't that make it more valuable?

I do want to look at it and see it run. Haven't been able to get in touch witht he guy today. I don't much care for a tractor that small, but I might be able to recoup the cost next year bushhogging and, plowing and disking next year. Might be a little easier to maneuver in people's back yards than my D14 Allis. The 3point hitch is actually what I am looking for as much as anything, I guess. Make it easier to drive around the neighborhood if I want to.

You may order a starter here. Look to the link at top left for parts. The search box only works for Massey Ferguson, but you'll find your TO20 listed anyway.
