I've got to replace the camshaft in my TO 30. I'd like to tackle this job myself, if it's not over my head. Could someone give me a run down on what all is involved.

Red,

You have a bit of a project ahead of you. You will have to remove the hood and the front axle and then remove the front pulley so you can remove the timing cover. The valve cover, rocker arm assembly, and push rods will also have to be removed. Then you should be able to start prying the camshaft forward but you will probably have to use a pencil magnet to reach down to the tappets(cam followers) and pull some of them upward as the camshaft comes forward. Lots fo hands could be required to hold the tappets up with magnets if they don't have enough resistance to stay up by themselves. Also be careful the tappets don't fall down into the lower engine after the camshaft is out. If you need a camshaft, e-mail me. I have one available!
