Busted up my hydraulic TO-20 pump. Cams are nicked up, housing cracked, probably due to pistons breaking up and lodging against cams, splitting the housing. Had 2 bottom plow stuck into one side a a dirt mound with tractor wheels on other side. Could not get plow to raise or tractor (spinning) wheels to go backward to raise the plow. like an idiot, I didn't unhook the plow and pull it out with a chain. It may be that the hyd. safety valve did not relieve the pressure or the pistons were hairlined cracked, although I had put my tractor thru some heavy work up to this point. Hate to have it occur again with a replacement pump. Any of you more experienced tractor owners have any idea of what happened and can give me advice as to What NOt to do in the future. Really appreciate your input, Thanks, Dave From the U.P..

Don't understand how you could do anything to damage your pump? Unless you where using the pto and somthing crazy happened. Of course you did not use the PTO while plowing. By the way. Do you have any idea what 300 is in american currency.

300 in American Currency? About half the price of another pump?

You know what? must have got a little mixed up. Was looking at a post and someone had paid 300# for a tractor. But looking back it was not you. Sorry! Good luck with the pump.

No problem. Kind of had me scratching my bald head for awhile. I believe that a pound (#) is worth around $2.75. I could be way off, I know that about 20 years ago it was up around $4.00. Some of our Canadian friends could help you out.

it is quite common for water to accumulate in the housing and settle to the bottom and freeze and crack the pump up this could be what happened does the fluid look milky? Was tractor kept outdoors? the old pumps are near bulletproof even old ones work pretty good but even if you need parts they are available. Send me an email and I will give you some places to look anyway.

Rod, The tractor came in beautiful shape and worked hard last fall and this summer. No hyd. problems. I do not know if the pump was original or not. Also not sure as to the oil. The guy who overhauled it seemed to know his tractors. I have a feeling it may have been my fault. Thanks for your opinions, they are something to think about. Dave

Is this a replacement pump or the original? I am wondering if it was put together correctly in the first place if it was a replacement if not probably wear in the system and were you using correct oil in the system? regards
