My TE20 fires right up using the starting handle even having been left for mounths. Trying to start it when warm however is a bloody nightmare!
Any tips are much apreciated, (how wide should I open the throtle?, any choke? etc)

Each one of these engines has it's own personality and I have a saying about it. "You have to get smarter than the metal". Mine does the same thing as yours...and I find that no throttle at warm starting is it for me...which tells me that the electrical is probably a little weak. If you had to choke it at warm start up...it might be telling you that the fuel is a little lazy about getting in there. These tractors do require that you think. Just need to get your thinking like an engine thinks. (smile) L8R....Fred OH

This is the way my TO 20 works when hot. Throttle about 1/4 open , ign. sw on, pull choke out, work start lever forward, Mine starts on first turn but if it does not push choke in after 1 turn or it will get too much gas. Should start on second turn.

Sounds like your carb is set way too rich however you didn't mention if you used choke when you tried after a long time period. Give more details; black smoke ? Another possibility could be your condenser, check if it fires at plug when she won't start.

Hope it helps
