Howdy again. Can anybody out there give me the approximate capacity of engine oil in Z129 in TO30? I was going to guess either 5 or 6 quarts, but thought I would ask. Do most folks out there still use a straight weight oil like a 30 wt in these machines or is a multi-weight OK? Don't have my operator or shop manuals yet, but hope a buddy going to the portland show can scare them up for me. Thanks, steve.

Steve, Concerning your inquiry on the use of multi-grade oil, most agree here that if you just had a fresh rebuild with today's seal then it would be acceptable otherwise stick to non detergent SAE 30 oil for summer and lower depending on intended operation in winter temperature.

Good Luck

6 qts. with the oil filter change. Mine actually took more (1/2 - 3/4 extra) when I dis-assembled the filter housing and the side boss and dropped the pan. There was alot of gunk down inside there.

The owners manual states 5 1/2 qts when completely empty(rebuilt), and thereafter 5 qts. 1/2 qt remains in the engine you cannot drain out as ke siladi said.
