Battery drain on to20

i have a To 20 converted to 12 volts. the problem is that the battery is constantly drained. is it ok to bypass the ammeter? if not, what can i do so my tractor will consistantly start?

I'm trying to help my dad on a T-20 conversion. but I can't log on the ----- --site that has the diagragm. Is there any other way to get it?
