the ferguson TO 30 i just purchased had it's electrical ground changed from the original positive ground to a negative ground...i dont think any other change was made..at least that i can tell...i have switched it back to a positive ground..now for my question..... does the wire on the positive of the coil now need to go to the post of the distributor housing..and the negative post wire go back to the ignition switch?....the original ignition switch is missing, there is a toggle switch in its place, not doing anything i think...thanks for any help..... ....the engine does crank , but wont fire up....it sat for over ten years

Joe,

All 12 volt systems are negative ground unless you have the original GENERATOR marked 12 volt positive ground. What does your manual say? If it specifically speakes about the 12 volt positive ground system then you're doing it right. The positive side of the coil goes to the ditributor.

If you have an ALTERNATOR it's highly unlikely that it's positive ground (very expensive), unless it's specifically marked, . Alternators are negative ground and if you hook it up otherwise you'll ruin it, the battery or both.

BE SURE!!!
