Hi!
How do I do a compression test on a Fergy TEA? I have one of the gizmo's for the actual testing, but a friend mentioned something about oil which I didn't catch. Is oil used in any stage of the compression test?
Any help would be appreciated

Oil can be used during a compression test to try and determine if low compression in a cylinder is caused by bad rings or valves.
If you have a cylinder that is low use a squirt can to put some oil in that cylinder through the spark plug hole. What your trying to do is direct the oil so that it ends up where the piston and cylinder wall meet. I usually bring the piston up to top and try to shoot the oil toward the back and trust it to run around.
Then run another test on that cylinder. If the compression is noticably higher then its probably rings. If not then probably valves. Of course on an old engine it could be a little of both.
