I have some lights that are stamped 'HALL LAMP'. This HALL LAMP is the same, in all appearances, as the rear light on the Ferguson that is on the cover and throughout the book: FORD TRACTOR IMPLEMENTS by Peterson/Beemer. The best shot of this is on page 103 w/ the BF-FO-20. I have also seen the picture of Harry Ferguson on the first TO20 as it is coming off the assembly line and the lights on this tractor look just like these HALL LAMPS. These lights- 2 headlights and a rear work light w/ toggle switch- have original Ford-Ferguson or Ferguson gray paint.The diameter of the light is 6 1/2". The depth is 5", including the protruding sealed beam light. The bulb is held in place w/ a rim that has two screws through the face horizontally. The 'HALL LAMP' stamp is small- 5/8" wide X 1/4" high. It could easily be painted over and probably difficult to see once mounted on tractor. It is stamped into the housing 1/8" from the ball on the back side. The stamp is neat, sort of a horizontal oval/diamond shape- so that the H (in Hall) and the P (in lamP) are the smallest, and the L (in halL) and the L (in Lamp) are the largest. The rivet pattern on the housing is rectangular- 2 1/2" X 1 1/2". The bulb grounds to a rivet in the rim. The rim is 1 1/16" deep. The rim screws are the same size (1 1/4") as the ones in my Parts Book for an F-40 (p.72). The only difference I can see is that the HALL LAMP uses 3 or 4 wire bulb retainers. These wire bulb retainers are not in the F-40 lights. Were the lights for a F-40 the same as the TO-20? There was recently one of these rear work lights sold by tonyg over at the YT auction. It seems likely to me that these HALL LAMPS were made by the C.M. HALL LAMP Co near Detroit (who made the lights for the early 9N). I would like to find out a little further what they were made for (Ferguson? Ford?) and when. If anyone has what they believe to be original early Ferguson lights I would appreciate them checking for this stamp and other similarities. Thanks.
