Cracked crankcase TED20

Am rescuing a 1952 TED20 left for years on beach.
On refilling radiator, find a 12" thin line fracture weeping water on offside at level where crankcase bulge begins. If not internally leaking into sump, is it possible to surface MIG weld along fracture to stop water oozing? Presume fracture due to being left without antifreeze.
Any advice welcome - or is a new engine inevitable?

I would tear it down and look for cracks around the sleeves. On the inside where you really can't see witout taking the engine apart. If you don't have cracks there you are very lucky. Weld the crack if it is just on the outside.

Go for it; you have nothing to lose. These tractors have replaceable sleeves (cylinders), which seat with a gasket against the block. If you are only leaking coolant to the outside world you may well be OK. Even if you are leaking coolant into the oil, that may be an easy fix with new "figure 8" gaskets below the sleeves.
Worth a tear-down I think though, if you're up for it.
