The cam journals on my 1948 te20 are .0015 to .003 oversize. I make a living rebuilding aircraft crankcases and oversized cam journals are easily repaired. But on the tractor there is not an easy way to make the journals smaller. The manual says replace the case. Is there another option?

I assume you have a Cont. Z120 engine. I looked at a block yesterday . Any chance you could bore out the journal bores and install cam bearings. Providing you could find cam bearings from another engine that would fit. Continental did use cam bearings on some engines. If you figure out how to fix , please post the results. Here are some Ferguson sites that may be of help.

Someone E-mailed and said he had sleeved several cam journals. The block is at the napa machine shop right now. The machinist is going to let me know what needs to be done. He has had the machine shop in Ozark, AL for 35 years. Says he has rebuilt 100's of z120 engines. Will inform everyone on the results when I find out.
